What we can answer

The questions a study is actually commissioned to settle

Semi-structured and open-ended, so they go where the answer is rather than where the guide expected. That is how a study surfaces the objection nobody wrote down.

How we source respondents

Three tiers, worked in order

A “take whoever you can get” recruit is how a study reports the wrong opinion confidently. Three tiers, so hard-to-reach specialties get filled rather than substituted.

  1. 01 KOL partners Established relationships with the clinicians who shape practice in their field.
  2. 02 In-house network Physicians we have recruited, screened and worked with before.
  3. 03 Physician database Over 2 million HCP profiles for rare and hard-to-reach specialties.

Why clients come back

One team, from screener to findings

Moderated by consultants

MD physicians and PhD scientists run the interviews, not junior moderators reading a script.

Screened in-house

Recruitment stays with our own team rather than a shared panel.

Hard-to-reach specialties

Oncology, cardiovascular surgery, endocrinology, pulmonology, payers and pharmacy directors.

In person or remote

IDIs and TDIs by phone or video, focus groups, and on-site studies in hospital.

In their words

What clients say about our interviews

KOLgroups is a trustworthy partner for our healthcare market research projects. We have partnered with them quite a few times and I count on them for our TDI/IDI needs.

FAQ

Qualitative research questions

When is a qualitative interview better than a survey?

When you need to understand why rather than how many — the reasoning behind a prescribing decision, the objection nobody wrote down, or how a product actually fits a workflow. Surveys measure what you already know to ask about; interviews surface what you did not.

Who moderates the interviews?

Our own consultants. MD physicians and PhD scientists run the discussions rather than junior moderators reading a script, which is what lets an interview follow a clinically interesting answer instead of moving to the next question.

Are interviews conducted in person or remotely?

Both. In-depth and tele-depth interviews by phone or video, focus groups, and on-site ethnographic studies in hospital.

Do we get recordings and transcripts?

Yes. Every interview is recorded and transcribed.

How do you reach specialists a panel cannot supply?

We work three tiers in order: established KOL relationships, our in-house network of physicians we have recruited before, and a database of over 2 million HCP profiles for rare specialties.

Can you help write the discussion guide?

Yes. Interviews are semi-structured and open-ended, and the guide is built around what the study needs to settle rather than programmed as-is.
